Letter from the Co-Chairs

Dear Members,

We are pleased to inform you that the GASi website has been successfully updated and restored following an extensive reconstruction process.

In few months, the GASi Symposium will take place in Athens, Greece, in collaboration with the Institute of Group Analysis Athens (IGAA). The Local Organizing Committee, the Symposium Management Committee, and the Symposium Scientific Committee are working closely together, despite the challenges posed by the current global situation.

The theme of the Symposium draws on the myth of Pharmakós, inviting us to reflect on the contradictions, paradoxes, and inherent dualities that humanity is facing in these difficult times – https://www.gasi-symposium-athens.com/

The GASi Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 will be held during the Symposium, likely on Saturday, 29 August, in the early afternoon and prior to the gala event. After several years of disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased that the AGM will once again take place in person, and we look forward to working together during this important meeting.

There was some consideration of scheduling the AGM after the conclusion of the Symposium, in order to allow full focus on the meeting. However, concerns were raised that this timing might unintentionally exclude members, as many participants tend to depart on Sunday morning before the Symposium officially concludes. This has occurred in the past, resulting in low attendance at final-day presentations, which does not adequately honor the efforts of presenters.

We look forward to welcoming you all in Athens.

Warm regards,
Francesca G. Bascialla & Sanja Janovic
