“The world is wrong. You can’t put the past behind you. It’s buried in you; it’s turned your flesh into its own cupboard”. – Claudia Rankine, Citizen.
Please join us to celebrate the publication of this landmark book of reflecting on intersectional themes within group analytic practise edited by Suryia Nayak and Alasdair Forrest.
This book makes the case of Intersectionality being essential for therapeutic work across modalities. As a therapeutic community within the IGA, we have to face our history of not always centring contextual issues which leave certain identities at the margins. In group analysis intersectional issues are ever present and working intersectionality poses numerous challenges which this book attempts to reflect on.
This book starts an on-going conversation of recentring othered positions and gives us room to collectively think about our practise. Using the framework of Black feminist intersectional perspectives, a range of practitioners holding different intersectional positionings, speak from their context.
Please join us for an evening of presentations and group conversations to do intersectional work together as a community of practitioners.
