Job Advert – Group Organisational Therapist

Location:                      Earthsea House and Merrywood House, Norfolk

Salary:                           £54,405 -£58,812 pro rata per annum

Employment type: Permanent, Part-time, 22.5 hours per week over three days (0.6 FTE), (0.3 FTE will also be considered).

Context

Childhood First enables children and young people to recover from early life abuse and relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential. We do this through the provision of specialist therapeutic residential care and treatment, together with family and network support. We are also a UKCP Training Organisational Member accredited with Middlesex University, providing in-house clinical training to its clinical staff.

The main focus of the role is based on the integrated Systemic Therapy (iST) methodology and rooted in relational based practice.

It is informed by Therapeutic community, Psychodynamic and systemic theory and practice.

Purpose

To facilitate a range of dynamic staff experiential groups to provide the reflective space and containment for the adults who are working with the children.

The GOT will provide specialist therapeutic group work facilitation, within a dedicated team, ensuring the quality of group practice, within the context of the clinical delivery of an accredited therapeutic programme working with children who have experienced trauma.

This is a specialised therapeutic practitioner role with no line management responsibilities.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Experience of facilitating staff groups, ideally within a therapeutic residential care setting
  • Clinical delivery of an accredited intervention / methodology, ensuring the clinical requirements meet the governance structure and align to the relational and applied practice of iST.
  • Facilitation of large and small dynamic groups within a structured therapeutic framework
  • Ensure the clinical integration and effectiveness of each group session and working to professional standards in relation to the delivery of each group, whilst maintaining a boundaried position that looks within and outside of the group functioning and connects the work of the community.
  • Attend and engage in monthly group supervision and 1:1 supervision, Clinical Team Meetings and Training Panel Meetings.
  • Experience of facilitating groups within a therapeutic care team ideally in a residential care setting.
  • Clinical expertise and focus on the planning and delivery of a therapeutic service.
  • A high level of communication skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Experience of assessment methods and psychodynamic work with children, adolescents or families.
  • A sense of personal resilience and psychological awareness, and the ability to form open and constructive relationships including a willingness to consider self in relationship with others and in terms of impact on the work.

Task

To play a full part in clinical development and assessment of IiST trainees, and in the facilitation and clinical practice of IiST practitioners.
