Some of the important aspects of being Contexts Editor include:

  • Full member of GASi.
  • Knowledge of WordPress platform for uploading Contexts. If you don’t know WordPress, you will be trained how to use it.
  • Contexts is published four times a year.
  • As editor of Contexts, you join the editorial board of the GA Journal. This meets three times a year, once in person on the Sunday of the Foulkes Lecture/Study Day weekend and the rest online (usually a Sunday).
  • Being editor means you are a member of the GASi Management Committee (MC) and become a trustee of a UK charity with all the associated responsibilities. MC meetings are monthly online and two in-person meetings per year. Attendance is required at MC Away Days, usually, two per year, either in person or online. Expenses for attendance at all in-person MC meetings are paid in line with GASi Expenses Policy.
  • Editor of Contexts becomes a member of the Online Communications Sub-committee (OCC). The task of this sub-committee is to think about and plan all online communications – website issues, Special Interest Groups, Webinars, forum (when it returns) etc.

And of course, a pleasure in connecting with so many GASi members through the role and reading and helping edit submissions.
