Fuck Off, I’m Painting

Aisling Fegan

Fuck off, I’m painting.

I’m listening in the vast silence

to the creaking hinges of systematic environmental collapse.

To the same people talking in every large group.

To the ‘your too sensitive’s’

and the insistence ‘to be more resilient’.

For hypocrisy

I am listening to stigma in your tone.

To disrespect,

For moral compass

And memory lapse.

REMINDER: Humans are Nature.

I am watching where power is hoarded

and how blame gets pushed around.

For disavowal,

cowardliness, selfishness, self-hate and shame.

For the step trodden and sharp elbowed.

For slimy socialisation,

greed and envy.

At the same time, it’s happening as they said it would.

Pandemics, natural disasters and accelerating human conflict.

Melting glaciers changing the weight distribution across the Earth’s crust.

A war raging over the bread basket of Europe.

Global Climate Genocide has begun with the most vulnerable.

It is racist, Islamophobic, misogynistic, ablest and ageist.

Western drones strike along the Aridity Line.

Cheap cladding as kindling – a warning sign.

Disposable souls.

Death without justice, dignity or truth.

This is the legacy of colonialism.

An affect of colonised minds.

The true human cost of economic success.

Eternal procrastination on a trajectory towards extinction.

Mass suicide.

We are at war with Mother Nature.

She has given some of us time.

It’s code red for humanity.

Where is group analysis?

Where am I?

I am painting

Goddesses

In a thin place.
