Obama’s Land
Travelling in songs of tribulation
A driven hungry man of soul management
Tolled/toiled in rage and misunderstanding
With family hierarchies and the lost
Underfunded with tribalism and islam
And sage of empathy and compassion
Or the hail of racism and solving problems in the dark
And hereditary alignment and the birds still sing in
my own homeland and metallic opposition
To silence and oppression
Fundamentally strong and isolating and episodic
In a land of impassibility and impossibility
Through misery and estrangement and love he survives.
In dying we fall apart. Are you, my luminary?
Inspired by; ‘Dreams From my Father,’ by Obama himself , and ‘Power’ by Audre Lorde.
