Introduction
It is with great pleasure that I introduce Contexts readers to the second article (in the June 2019 issue of Contexts Göran Ahlin wrote about the group matrix concept) originally written for the Group Analytic Dictionary, this time by Rachel Chejanovsky. This article explores the concept of ‘Mind’ as understood by Foulkes and some of his followers. As the Group Analytic Society International increases it’s membership worldwide and Group Analytic concepts are studied by colleagues of different nationalities, cultures and languages, it is important to revisit the original Foulksian concepts and open up a dialogue on what is the current understanding and how it differs according to the cultural and linguistic context in which these concepts are considered. The current Group Analytic Dictionary organisers would welcome responses so that a dialogue can take place through Contexts, the Forum or directly with the authors of these articles.
Rachel Chejanovsky is a Group Analyst currently practising in Israel.
