NEW Online Directory of Members

Dear Members,

Some of you may have noticed a change in the Members Area of the website, on the ‘Update My Details’ page. There are extra boxes to provide additional information about you, your interests, your groups, the languages which you speak and work in, publications. There is space also for a personal statement.

The aim is for members to have a current, updating, electronic Members Directory and to be able to connect with other members geographically and/or in terms of interests, experience etc. There has not been a comprehensive directory since the last paper one of 2013.

There is more work to be done, in the next few months. We’re hoping that members will be able to search for others geographically with a map showing where they are located. The intention is for searches to be possible also in terms of interests, experience etc.

These developments have raised questions about the possibility of using the website as a search facility for the public.

The MC meeting on Jan 18^th will be discussing this idea and members will be consulted. Suggestions and comments are welcome – about this aspect and other suggestions for improving the website and its use.
