From the Heart

Viv Harte asked me to write something for Contexts from a historic photo of the Guardian of July 22, 2022.

This is the manifest destiny of an ancient race, to hold our time in their arms, an unparalleled audacity and majesty. It adumbrates a new reality for us all, and we become story and celebrate life anew. It begs to encompass us all now as these new indigenous members of parliament beg fellowship under our new regime and we don’t all agree in the steps forward, but suddenly the Uluru statement has become a tranche and it did speak from the heart as a branch for us to open up and realise.

There is in this photo young and old aunties and uncles, all clamouring for the spirit of a new life.
