A Continuing Study Programme of Connected Residential Workshops, 2022

Creating Large Group Dialogue in Organisations and Society

In Association with the Group Analytic Society International and approved by the Institute of Group Analysis [IGA] London as a short course.

We have just completed our first three years of Creating Large Group Dialogue. Initially we met face to face five times a year, for a weekend. Since COVID lockdown, we continued working online with Zoom, which has broadened the membership to people from all over the world.

Although often referred to as the Large Group course, the process is not didactic. It is a slow open Median Group with additional seminars and group consultation for anybody looking for ongoing learning and support when working in any situation that involves larger groups. We are from many backgrounds and countries, so the content of the work is fascinating, deep, encouraging and difficult, as we bump up against many different cultural assumptions. It is through the experience of working together in the Median Group and bringing back the inevitable trial and error process involved in thinking about larger group processes in everyday experience or actually setting up a larger group, that the learning occurs. Practice and theory are woven together in a rich and, yes, confusing situation. So, if you are interested do come and join us.

Where?

We started with face-to-face meetings at Roffey Park, one of the foremost colleges for management training in the UK set in beautiful countryside only 15 minutes by taxi from Gatwick airport if come from overseas. For those coming by train, it is 20 minutes from Victoria, an hour from London Bridge or Blackfriars. Now offered as a blended learning experience with some people face to face and some on Zoom using innovative technology.
