Since 2014 a Group Analytic training has been established in Rwanda. A combined Foundation and Intermediate course for 30 students is currently run in cooperation with the Survivors’ Fund and a range of local organisations.
The Rwandan training challenges many of our most basic assumptions about Group Analysis and leads us to think again about the nature of communication.
In particular the sub-plenary considered the work being done by different Rwandan NGOs across the country. And we explored some of the factors affecting the search for a common language: the trauma of silence, the burden of secrecy, the ambiguities of proverbs, and the role of interpreters.
